Whole Body Cryotherapy is an extreme cold treatment. Cryotherapy treatments are delivered in temperatures of between -120°C and -160°C and last from two to three minutes. Despite the extreme temperatures, due to the dry air, the environment is not unpleasant. For those having experienced immersion in an ice bath of temperatures at 5–8°C, almost all prefer the comfort and lack of physical penetrative cold of a cryotherapy treatment.
Extreme low temperatures help mobilise the immune system, accelerate metabolism, reduce inflammation and joint pain and promote swift recovery from sports injuries. When the surface of the skin is blasted with cold, the capillaries dilate, pulling blood to the surface to warm you up. After a short while, the blood pumps to the organs stimulating warmth through the whole body. This promotes long-term cardiovascular and musculoskeletal health, increasing nutrient and oxygen supply to the tissues, as well as increasing the lymph circulation, flushing toxins and waste products from the body.
Cryotherapy has also been proven to reduce the signs of ageing through increased collagen production and cell regeneration, leading to the reduction of wrinkles and blemishes. Other benefits of cryotherapy include better mood and sleep patterns, reduced anxiety and stress levels, improved brainpower and concentration and higher energy levels.
